- The problem is that the revenue isn't created out of thin air - it's basically a tax (usually paid by those that can least afford it) with a good chunk taken out by the organization running the lottery.

- I can understand why you'd do it, although it seems like the airline would take this into account and offer to sell you the miles at a fraction of what you would pay for the trip, saving you time & money and saving themselves fuel costs (assuming that the seat wouldn't be sold to someone else).
